Governor’s flag order for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Pursuant to the Code of Virginia, § 2.2-3310.1. Display of the POW/MIA flag, this is to order that, where possible, the POW/MIA flag that is normally displayed be flown on all public buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in respect and honor of all Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in appreciation for their selfless service and sacrifice.
Note that the POW/MIA flag shall be flown on Friday, September 20, 2013, on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia. However, the flags of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia shall be flown at half-staff onFriday, September 20, 2013, on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in respect and in memory of the victims of the tragedy at the Washington Navy Yard. If the POW/MIA flag is on a separate pole, then it should be flown at half staff. If the POW/MIA flag is on the same pole, then it should be flown underneath the flags of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I hereby order that the POW/MIA flag shall be flown on Friday, September 20, 2013, and remain displayed until sunset.
